The Stress Mess
We've Gotten Ourselves in One Hell of a Pickle
Original Publication Date:
October 2009
9. Happiness comes in moments and spurts
We expect too much from happiness. If we are anything but happy we might feel we're having a less than fulfilling life. The pickle we find ourselves in is one of our doing. It's a bitter, sour pickle. We did it. We allowed it to happen. Nobody came in from Russia or China or Iran or Lebanon, held us at gunpoint and said, "Look America, we're going to force you to be greedy and shortsighted and irresponsible and self-serving citizens. We're going to make sure that when we're through you'll be less free and less capable, and less influential, and less powerful both at home and throughout the world."
As Bill Moyers said, "We're close to losing the moral, financial, and economic muscle and wisdom that makes a huge nation a great nation, but it's never too late." Is Bill right? Can we find a way out of this pickle we're in and avert going under and losing it all for all time? It's back to being on us. We have the strength of the constitution behind us. We have the first amendment behind us. Don't be afraid. Don't allow the problems we're all up against turn into self-induced stress. Take the word stress out of your vocabulary. It's only a word and can't hurt you. So although I'm sad, I remain hopeful. There's magic in hope. It's the one on one where the magic happens. Step up and bring on the magic.

it has been my experience that, not matter where the stress is it spills over to the other areas. I first find the root of the stress/problem, then research how others fix the emotional side. Remember exercise regularly, this is a MUST. Good luck

First, identify exactly what is triggering your reaction we call stress. Tackle those problems 1 @ a time & don't lump them 2together. Come up with solutions that might mean making tough choices. When the stressful impulse strikes @ home do anything 2 interrupt it. Don't entertain it for a second.~

These days I always feel stressed at work and it seems to be spilling out into my home life. Is there a way I can stop doing that?
