"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go."

Pz's Pointers on Getting Ready for Your Life

1. Holding on or letting go

We hold on to familiar people or habitual patterns because it's easier and safer than letting them go. Even when things are dreadful we hold on. Even when things are wrong we hold on. Even when things are unhealthy we hold on. The world is full of negative mentality people. They are filled with a mean-spirit and not a loving one. We will all encounter those folks along the way. Once they have revealed their true selves to us we have a choice. Either we can keep them around and have their energy continue to penetrate us, or we can set them free to spin off in another direction taking that energy with them. It's not a painless task to get rid of some people. In many instances, we have become quite attached. Folks who roll around in the mud don't want to get dirty alone. Let them find someone else to roll around with. That is their path to walk. It doesn't mean we have to walk it with them. You'll find once you step away from the madness or the muck that you won't miss it. The more negative-free zone your life becomes the less negativity you will entertain.

2. When enough is enough

You've heard the expression, 'sick and tired of being sick and tired.' Sometimes life has to push us to the outer limits, right up to the edge of the cliff, or the brink of destruction before we grudgingly say uncle and have had enough. Unfortunately, it's more often than not when we are faced with no good options when we finally come to grips with our reality. At that stage, whether we're ready or not we're forced to take some action. That's the worst possible position to be in. When you know something is wrong or something is broken take a proactive approach to a solution. The sooner you can make a decision to empower your life the better. Don't wait until the breaking point has come and gone. Don't wait until the power is totally taken out of your hands and your decisions spring out of desperation or fear.

3. Doing nothing is doing something

Sometimes we think if we stay in a bad situation and do nothing that we can buy some time or ride it out while we're figuring what action to take. We fool ourselves into thinking our inaction isn't going to contribute any more harm. What we fail to realize is that not making a decision is a decision in and of itself. Non-action is really action in its simplest form. Getting off the mark can be the hardest part of the moving forward process. Once you get yourself in a positive gear you can build upon your progress at a pace that suits you best.

4. Be a friend but don't beat the dead horse

Maybe you're not the one with the dilemma, but it's your buddy whose life is in turmoil. It's only natural to want to jump in and help a friend in need, especially during their time of sorrow. You're on the outside looking in and see what your friend either can't or won't see. Maybe it's because they're not ready to see it. You'll find your advice and opinion may fall on deaf ears. This is a time to be a friend, but only voice your feelings when asked, and be cautious about what you say. Unless the person going through the struggle is ready to turn it around, nothing you say or do will matter much. You may even find they make one step forward and many back as they opt to resume hurtful or poor choices. Plant the positive seeds you can plant. Be supportive for as long as you think you can and for as long as it doesn't negatively impact upon your life. Beyond that you should stay out of the way.
