The Many Faces of Fear

7. Going from fearful to fearless
Time and again, I'm reminded I have to remind you, the reader, just how unique and special you are. There really is only one you, and you're put here at this moment in history to be somebody. The planet needs you. The country needs you. Your industry needs you. Your friends and family need you. You won't realize the extent of your gifts and talents if you are afraid. You won't be able to share your contributions if you're too scared. Discover who you are. Uncover your reason for being alive. Each of us has a reason that is solely ours. Be able to speak it out loud in a sentence or less. Put who you are in motion. Make sure whatever it is you do that you do with joy and gusto. Be fearless. If you're delivering pizzas like the Hedge Fund guy, don't get discouraged, don't lose your dignity. Don't worry about what others think. Stay humble, but stay determined. You'll find a way to get on the other side and closer to your authentic self when you realize there is nothing to fear.
8. Fear of shining can be blinding
Some of us aren't fearful that we'll fail. We're afraid we might succeed. We're afraid of all that is great about us so we hide our light in the shadows and don't think we're worthy. Keep in mind, you are here to make a mark. You are here to do great things on a grand scale. You are as one small ray of sun that contributes mightily to the nurturing of the world. Don't be afraid to shine out. Don't be afraid to shine so brilliantly that your light will cast on others, too. Darkness and fear cannot be sustained in the midst of such blinding light. Remember, we get what we ask for. When the fear falls away all we are left with is love.
