2. Look out for the haters

Unfortunately, not everybody likes Guy. He sure must be doing something RIGHT to be drawing so much negative attention. Yes, there are foodie snobs who hate on him for his unconventional look and style and give him low points in the chef department. Among some of the so-called sophisticated culinary minds he gets no respect. No, he's not the continent hopping, intellectual known as Anthony Bourdain, or the Hampton's gourmet it-girl, Ina Garten, but it's not even fair to compare. Then, there are the usual suspects who hate on him unmercifully because they can and, in the process, take themselves much too seriously. To those Negative Nellies, I say, Guy is a 'winner, winner chicken dinner!' Like him or not, he is who he is. The only thing I've seen him do is treat everybody with big doses of dignity and respect. Although I haven't had the pleasure of meeting him yet, I have it on good authority, from two very close friends who have, that he's exactly what you expect and very cool, too. For me, I'm buying what they're selling. It seems to be one of the flaws I like least about human beings that they can be mean-spirited and cruel, and jealous of others and their achievements. The same will be true for your life. If you put yourself out there in any capacity be prepared for the criticism. Of course, we all have opinions and are entitled to voice them. I've never minded the input or feedback from others when it comes from a genuine place. Most often, though, that is not the case. Be prepared for folks to stomp on you or your talent. That's okay. Just don't let them stomp on your spirit. Don't let that discourage you or keep you from using your gifts and being yourself. As they say, it goes with the territory.

3. Go big or go home

It's not surprising they named Guy's first show out of the box, Guy's Big Bite. Everything with Guy is big. Better still, it's ginormous. There's not an ounce of wimpy or skimpy about who he is and what he does. Guy doesn't do anything half-stepping. He's full-on, full-out, full-tilt, full-throttle with everything he touches. He brings this extreme philosophy and big personality to the screen whether he's rocking big flavors behind the counter or playing host in front of it. Regardless, it's all Guy and all big. Think big in your own life. Expect big things to happen. Dream dreams that are bigger than you can imagine coming true. Your goals should be out of reach, just not out of sight.
