7. Even after all these years of Oprah

If you have spent any time following Oprah you know a common theme exists throughout her show of mutual support and cooperation—especially among women. She has espoused a message of people inspiring people and offering a hand-up wherever and whenever possible. As you know, I, too, echo this message. As much as some folks get it, too many still don't. Even after all the good will of Oprah, there are still far too many crabs disguised as people. The only conclusion we can draw is there is much work to do, and human beings, on the whole, have a long way to go before there are no crabs left to fill the pot.

If you're curious about Noelle, I can share that by the time I stopped working with her she had a firm footing in her recovery. Whatever small role I played in that healing, I am grateful. Her friend Joe stuck by her side until they finally went their separate ways. He was a phenomenal guy who loved her but loved her enough to let her go. Noelle went on to quit dancing and get a degree in the medical field. The last I heard, she had a new man in her life, had found love and purpose, and was looking at the past in her rear view mirror. No matter what turn her life takes, I'm sure she'll never forget the lesson learned from the shredded costumes. I can bet she is better now at spotting those pesky crabs that crawl around masquerading as people.

Each of us has unique gifts that nobody else has. Our attention should be on discovering those gifts. If we focus our time on cutting up fancy costumes we'll be nothing more than a crab in a pot, wasting our life counting someone else's blessings instead of our own.
