What's in a Name
Not surprisingly, a question I am often asked is what does PZ stand for and how did I get the name. Here is the short account. It may be natural to assume, but the initials PZ--just P and Z--no periods please--do not stand for anything specific. Although it wasn't my given birth name, eventually, I became it, legally and all. Always 'the pleaser,' I felt it my calling early on to help others. If something was wrong I wanted to fix it. I had little patience for or tolerance of conflict. In this light, I guess you could say I've been problem-solving my entire life. My niece gave me an abridged version of 'the pleaser;' it evolved into PZ, and it stuck. Usually name changes are more customary for Hollywood and entertainers and are not uncommon in those circles. In my case, as a writer, it seemed to fit. (Amazing how a nickname can take on a life of its own!)
How did PZPOWER® originate?
Some time back I was working with a promoter who was helping put together a new identity package. We were in the process of establishing me and my message for the greater marketplace. I couldn't register PZ.com--not enough characters. I just go by PZ, so we had a bit of a quandary. All at once he looked at me and said, "You are PZ Power. You empower people with your message. That is what we'll register. That is who you are." And the rest, as they say, is history.
What does PZPOWER® mean?
Words are powerful. I've been writing motivational material for many years--some for magazines, some for others, some for myself. Every article or column I write has a purpose. Every book I pen has a specific message. My main focus has always been centered on the 3 E's: to educate, enlighten, or empower the reader. I want them to walk away from my words with something to think about. I want to confirm something they already know or give them another slant on an issue to consider. I want to lift the spirit of the reader and empower them to be their best on many fronts. I want to do it in a simple and concise way--understandable and relatable. I rarely use my last name so the use of POWER with PZ was a good match. PZPOWER® represents my message.
PZPOWER® is now a registered trademark so it has grown in meaning from its humble beginnings.~
